Kingdom of Valens Founded

Aucen I de Fleur of Galvar unifies the scattered Valenic fiefdoms, establishing the Kingdom of Valens as the dominant power in Central Wudor.

Re-legalization of Hearth-sonning by the Valenic crown triggers an explosion of landless lower nobility — producing a restless class of titled but propertyless knights who seek fortunes abroad.

Archebaud de Fleur Rises

The Onyx King takes power over Valens, beginning a program of rapid military expansion and aggressive consolidation of Ettish territories.
1249 Conflict

Velmiric Slave Raids

Velmiric raiders target coastal Ettish lords sworn to Valens. The raids serve as Archebaud's stated pretext for invasion — a justification widely regarded as disingenuous.

Onyx King's Wars Begin

Archebaud launches campaigns to subjugate independent Ettish polities and deny the Evershining Empire its most accessible expansion routes into Central Wudor.
1291 Conflict

Sack of Dyrmar

Archebaud strikes north Carettia, capturing Wislen and Varetta and briefly installing a Valenic claimant as King of Carettia. The Second Shining Empire enters the war against Valens almost immediately after.

Invasion of Carettia

Archebaud leads 35,000 men into the Marquisate of Marziellana — the first formal war between Valens and the Shining Empire. Widely considered the beginning of the end for the Onyx King's conquests.
c. 1298 Political

Republic of Ettmark Founded

Mid-war, the Ettish cities of Hanset and Zotten unite under the banner of the Republic of Ettmark. The pro-independence Schildswarths eclipse the pro-Valenic Valkoons across the region.
c. 1300 Arcane

The Obscene Rite

Seeking to cement his conquests through necromancy, Archebaud attempts a ritual to raise an undead legion. He is killed mid-cast — summoning the masterless Vehement and triggering the collapse of his empire.

10 Entence, 1302 Conflict

Siege of Zotten

Clement de Fleur assaults Zotten to open a route toward Ettmark's provisional capital. Defender Zytwick VanEizenga uses marshy terrain to rout Valenic heavy cavalry, destroying much of Valens' noble-horsemen in a single engagement.
c. 1302 Conflict

Torching of Vyltwick

Artain I of Valens burns Vyltwick's fields to deny resources to Ettish forces. The strategy backfires — it destroys Valenic credibility in the region and swells the Ettish militia with aggrieved refugees.

Great Abjuration

The dominance of evocation magic collapses as asymmetric warfare renders mass-damage spells ineffective. Silence, Counterspell, and illusion rise to prominence — ushering in the age of the Mana Skirmish.
1388 Conflict

Carettic War

The Evershining Empire, sensing Valenic overextension, campaigns to dislodge Valens from Central Wudor. The Empire fails its major objectives — but Valens emerges exhausted, crippled at the outset of further Ettish conflict.

Seven Demands of the Wudorian Peasantry

Following the Black Army of Wudor's capture of Margard, its Bailiff proclaims seven demands — invoking the Myriad against corrupt nobility, demanding an end to serfdom, compulsory conscription, and the death-tax.
