The Sack of Dyrmar is the name given to a group of several brief incursions by the Kingdom of Valens in early 1291, aimed at paralyzing the Dyrmar region of northern Carettia. Situated in the Geffer’s Folly mountain range, the strike was meant to incapacitate the city of Wislen and destroy any premise of the Second Shining Empire’s intervention in what was meant to be a quick seizure of territory.
While Archebaud achieved his tactical objectives, capturing Wislen and Varetta and even briefly installing his distant cousin as “King of Carettia” in 1292, he failed to dissuade Imperial intervention. The Second Shining Empire would join the coalition against the Onyx King as a belligerent almost immediately after hostilities opened, and intensified it’s support of the Ettish by sea.
