The Kunosa’vlari were the earliest iterations of the Evershining Elves, or Drow. Born of the First Shining Empire’s experimentation with the Evershining Flame, the Moonlight Elves exposed to the flame for long enough would eventually gain vast proficiency in the arcane arts, though at a large cost. The body of any Elf who remained near the flame for a long enough time would begin to develop an innate craving only sated by the consumption of magic.

The First Empire utilized these addicts as skilled shock troops combining heightened physical prowess and magical talent, to devastating effect. The predecessor barbarian states to the Kingdom of Valens, formerly victorious in nearly every engagements, were forced to cease their strategy of intermittent low-intensity warfare after several engagements saw the Drow victorious.

However, as the collapse of the First Empire intensified in speed following the death of Yakoub the Great and the assent of the First Orcish Horde, the Kunosa’vlari were no longer enough to alone stop it’s fall. After Aucen de Fleur decisively defeated Imperial forces and severed the Empire in two, the east, containing the Evershining Flame and the lands that would eventually compose the Evershining Empire, was declared unsalvageable.
