Galvar (formerly Kalward) was the third-largest city in the Kingdom of Valens, and the primary means for Valenic power projection during the Second Ettish War. Long regarded as “Valens’ capital in the North,” Galvar held significance due to ithe value of the Second Shining Empire’s archives, as the city hosted a number of religious cloisters owned by the Astringent Order.
Between 500 and 700 VD, roughly 300 individuals were initiated into the Astringent and sent to participate in the spread of the Myriadic faith in continental territories recently taken from theRealm of Velmir. Among these individuals was the legendary Witch Linde ZuKalward.
Kalward was sacked by the Valeni in 744 VD during their southwest-ward migration. The actual city of Galvar as it is known today was founded in 1105 VD, close to the old Kalward. It was among the first of the cities to fall under Valenic control in 1174 both due to it’s close proximity to core territory of Valens and the locals’ eagerness to gain protection from occasional Velmiric raids. It was briefly considered for the status of the nation’s capital by Aucen de Fleur, though the idea was eventually discarded due to it’s distance from core Valene territories.
